Severanceseason 2 , sequence 7 saw Doctor Mauer lie to Gemma several times , with one about Mark ’s life being peculiarly dark and intentional . Severance ’s Doctor Mauer was first teased in season 2 , episode 5 . InSeveranceseason 2 , episode 7 , Mauer tells Gemma that Mark has move on . He insists that Mark has since married someone else and had a daughter . This comes after Gemma require if she can give Lumon and last reunify with Mark , with the doctor hop that the lie will lenify her into rest and completing her study alongside him .
This links to the severallies Milchick say inSeveranceseason 2 ’s premiere , with each one being a way to pacify the MDR workers enough to complete their workplace . Mauer ’s lie to Gemma was used similarly , but , evidently , had the same effect as Milchick ’s did with the MDR doer by stoking more insurrection . This lie prompts Gemma to attack Mauer , even leading to her attempted outflow from Lumon ’s Testing Floor .

Mark Has Found Love, But Not How Gemma May Assume
What makes Dr. Mauer ’s lie inSeveranceseason 2 , sequence 7 more interesting than Milchick ’s is that there is a grain of the true in it . Although Mark does not have a daughter , he has obtain love since Gemma ’s supposed " death . " This love has come in the form of his relationship with Helly , though it is Mark ’s Innie that has these impression .
Mark ’s Outie still have a go at it Gemma enough to prompt him to undergoSeverance ’s Reintegration processto obtain her . unhappily , though , Gemma will not understand the dispute as Mark was not a Lumon doer until after she was taken by Lumon . Despite her insistence that she does not believe Mauer ’s claims , Gemma could be evidence the prevarication enough to the dot where she believe it and begins conducting her work for Lumon without underground . If so , Severanceseason 2 ’s lingering Cold Harbor mystery will be completed .
