What Happens During The Sisterhood’s Nightmare In Dune: Prophecy Episode 4

The sisters in training grab at their throats as if they are choking – like Dorotea

Dune : Prophecyepisode 4 includes a scary joint nightmare between several of the Bene Gesserit sisters in grooming . One of the standout pupils at the Sisterhood , Jen , wakes up to realize that all of her peers are experiencing the same disturbing incubus , although she did not experience it . Several of the sisters appear to be grabbing at their throats as if they are pass , which is a clear reference book to how Dorotea was murder by Mother Reverend Superior Valya decennary before . Valya had used the Bene Gesserit powerfulness of Voice to teach Dorotea to labour a knife into her pharynx , which reset the fashion for Valya ’s rise to tycoon .

Thiscommunal nightmare comes about after Valya unsuccessfully tries to expend the Voice on Desmond Hartat the end of installment 3 . Valya gave Desmond the same instructions to pull out his sword and cut his own throat but Desmond ’s fresh gifted psychical powers from the giant sandworm Shai - hulud appropriate him to thwart Valya ’s Voice dictation . It ’s clear by Valya ’s chemical reaction that this had never happen to her before and she is up against a far greater threat than she guess . Interestingly , Valya work to keep the Reckoning from happening but cease up being a key catalyst in bringing it to life , which come about in the partake dream between the Sisterhood pupil .

Why All The Sisters Have The Same Nightmare Except Jen

Jen is the most unpredictable and independent of the acolytes

Jen interestingly is the only one who does not share the apportion nightmare , which is why she is excluded from the spice - cause drawing off workout that Tula organize later in the episode . ThroughoutDune : Prophecy , Jen is the bold and most outspoken of the sisters in education who does n’t need to practice " truth - sense " to see things for the way they really are . Jen is also inherently malcontent and works against the Sisterhood while still asseverate her place among her fellow acolytes . BecauseJen is such a natural leader and gratuitous thinker , it makes sense that she is less susceptibleto the share incubus and may not really be set to be a Bene Gesserit " truthsayer " .

Jen is , in a word , unpredictable , which suggests that she is less disciplined and susceptible than her fellow acolyte . Jen is also naturally skeptical and was the only one who speak up to Tula about how irresponsible it was of her and Valya to put Lila through The Agony without proper training . It ’s not exactly clean why Jen did n’t have incubus like the others , although she did fancy one of the other notable acolytes , Sister Emeline , slice up her pharynx in a pipe dream . Tula also envisions this in a spice - induced hallucination at the end of the episode , although she is the one hold the blade . This suggests that Jen is on to the dark truths that Tula is hiding .

How The Sisterhood’s Nightmare Connects To Fear & The Reckoning

They appear to be channeling the godlike spirit of Shai-hulud

When Tula leads the acolytes through the dream once again , they become consumed by images of Arrakis and Shai - hulud , which they feverishly adumbrate on paper . They also all make what seems to be two white eyes which are afterwards prove as two blasphemous orbs inside Shai - hulud , which could advert to the godlike bearing within the giant sandworm who is making the tally happen .

Desmond Hart claims to have fare out of Shai - hulud when he was converted , which hint that he is the " twice born " despot that was prophesized in the Reckoning . However , with the resurrection of Lila through the Thinking Machine technology inDune : Prophecyepisode 4 , there are now two character who fall into the " doubly take over " category .
