“Tonally, We Wanted To Do Something Different”

When asked about her favorite time of year to write and shoot , Tracey Wigfield had a spry answer:“Summer was fun because you lay out up the premise already . We ’re comedy writers , so the mirthful promise of the premise lies in summer where it ’s this old guy cable [ who ] made the choice , he left his wife and now this new girl is here on this holiday , so all the comedy of it is there . So for me , that ’s the most fun . ”
But for the writers , it was ultimately the delight and woe of marriage that fueled the story and , in Lang Fisher ’s words , leave the writers a good clock time . “[It ’s ] the fun of relationships,”Fisher said , continuing,“We assemble a author ’s room of people who are exclusively in recollective marriage ceremony . peradventure one person had already extend through a divorce , but we were like , ‘ Let ’s just mine everyone ’s experiences of what happens when you ’re matrimonial for 20 years and what happens when you ’ve had the same friend mathematical group since you were in college . ’ ”
