Story " below!Reacher’slatest sequence open with a golden opportunity for a Finlay cameo - but I ’m happy they dissent the temptation . Reacherseason 1 adaptedKilling Floor , which was a very logical start point as that was the first novel . The first season was a rating smash that also received surprisingly warm reviews , particularly for Willa Fitzgerald as Roscoe and Malcolm Goodwin as Finlay . Both performers made such a strong effect that it was hard to see succeeding season be active forward without them .
TheLee ChildJack Reacherbooksare all essentially standalone , with few recur part or plotlines . Still , Reacherseason 2 contribute a merriment cameo for Finlaythat also feel like an organic part of the narrative . Fitzgerald has yet to give and unless a future season heavily retool another Koran to let in them , it ’s dubious Roscoe or Finlay will render . It ’s a shame to suffer such great characters and performer - but I ’d also detest the show to push them into the story for the sake of it .
After a fantastic starting signal , Reacher season 3 starts to lose impulse in its next-to-last episode " L.A. Story " , raising the stakes for next week ’s close .
I Was Worried Reacher’s Boston Visit Would Lead To A Finlay Cameo
Reacher didn’t call up Finlay after all
Reacherseason 2 confirmed that Finlay had rejoined the Boston police force , and was useable whenever Alan Ritchson ’s title character ever needed aid . WhenReacher’slatest episode " L.A. Story " open up with Jack and Agent Duffy ( Sonya Cassidy ) driving to Boston , I got a brief flutter of turmoil that Goodwin ’s Finlay would make an show . alternatively , Duffy only makes a brief period to visit the granny of her missing informant , Theresa .
There would be no veridical reason for Finlay to get involved in Reacher ’s latest mission …
Finlay does n’t make a cameo in the episode , which I ’m glad did n’t come to pass . There would be no real cause for Finlay to get involve in Reacher ’s latest missionary post ; plus , it ’s not like Jack is the kind guy who would arrange a catch - up with Finlay over coffee bean and a Danish . A Finlay visual aspect would have felt forced , and much as I ’d love to see Goodwin kill back up on the series , his return should n’t be an empty gimmick either .

I Love How Reacher Season 3 Is Avoiding Fan Service
Just like its main character, Reacher isn’t a very sentimental series
Finlay not making a return is part of a larger thread I wish about this series ; it ’s avoidance of bothersome fan service . There have been almost no callbacks to the events of previous time of year and even mentions of things like the 110th Special Investigators or Margrave feel like they derive naturally . Neagley ( Maria Sten ) does n’t appear inReacherseason 3 ’s source novelPersuader , but even her inclusion body feel organic .
Willa Fitzgerald and Malcolm Goodwin work out together again on Mike Flanagan ’s Netflix miniseriesThe Fall of the House of Usher .
The previous two series made Neagley a central part of theReacherTV show , and her subplot in the third time of year fits neatly into the storey found in tike ’s record . Other democratic shows would be tempted to add more easter ballock or Edgar Albert Guest appearances , but I ’m impressed withReacher’srestraint in this regard . mayhap the upcoming finale will muff all that and seeReacherfinally call Roscoe ’s number - but I doubt that will bump .
