David Fincher ’s version of Stieg Larsson ’s bestselling novelThe daughter With The Dragon Tattoo(which is NOT a remake of the Swedish picture ) is come in at us this vacation time of year , and Columbia Pictures is releasing some new images from the picture .
These first persona are understandably focalise on the film ’s two protagonists : Disgraced journalistsMikael Blomkvist ( Daniel Craig)and his unlikely friend , Goth hacker extraordinaire , Lisbeth Salander ( Rooney Mara ) .
While Craig as Blomkvist seems like a logical bit of casting ( although it can be reason the thespian is too good - look to fit Larsson ’s verbal description of Blomkvist ) , the casting of Mara as the hard - as - nail Salander is a bit more dry , collapse that the actress is really a wealthy inheritrix - pretty much the furthest thing from Salander ’s traumatic rootage . Still , director David Fincher has had nothing but congratulations for his leading lady , which speaks to Mara ’s skill as an actress , if she ’s been able to convincingly live a skin so foreign to her own .
At the very least , she looks the part of Salander - arguably in more fitting fashion than Swedish actress Noomi Rapace did in the Swedish photographic film version .

For as much love life as Rapace gets for her portrayal of this now - iconic anti - heroine , I always think she looked a bit too thick - deboned ( comparatively speaking ) and old to be a spot - on representation of Salander , who Larsson always described as being almost anorexic thin with sparse features , almost like a young teenage model who had a contrasting aura of intensity level and intelligence that seemed all mismatched with her frail eubstance type . We wo n’t know for certain if Mara can take those abstract qualities of Salander in proper way until we see some footage from the film , but as far as physical appearance die , she has nailed the eccentric well than Rapace , in my opinion .
Taking thing a step further : for as much love as the Swedish rendering ofGirl With The Dragon Tattoogets , the movie tookseriousliberties with the tattle of Larsson ’s tale , including some major change to character relationships ( Blomkvist and his parade of lover , in finical ) . While remake and reboots are dirty little buzz words for a lot of motion-picture show fans right now , the baby should not be thrown out with the bath water : There is a lot of room for Fincher ’s film to be a much different ( good ? ) visual sensation of this sorry and disturb tale .
