Landman
WARNING : SPOILERS forward for Landman season 1 .
Some of the main fictional character inLandmanseason 1 make the new Taylor Sheridan series particular and extremely entertaining , while others are frustrating and do n’t needs dish a slap-up purpose . Landmanis the 7th written original series created by Sheridan , whose break seriesYellowstonehas sparked a wealthiness ofWestern - themed projects on Paramount+from the acclaimed writer and music director . Billy Bob Thornton leads thecast ofLandmanalongside Jon Hamm , Ali Larter , Michelle Randolph , Jacob Lofland , and Kayla Wallace .
At theend ofLandmanseason 1 , Tommy barely escape with his life while Jon Hamm ’s Monty does n’t make it out of the infirmary alive . These two characters were at the center of most of the activeness throughout Landman ’s first season , while Tommy ’s family , consist of Ali Larter ’s Angela , Michelle Randolph ’s Ainsley , and Jacob Lofland ’s Cooper , all embarked on their individual journey . Some characters are certainly more integral and likeable than othersbut they all combine to makeLandmanone of the most compelling new drama series on TV .
10Nathan
Colm Feore
Nathan , play by Colm Feore , has some shady moment inLandmanseason 1 but is mostly just a hydrofoil for the other more central character . To his credit , Nathan is certainly the most normal and reasonable main fiber inLandmanseason 1 but that does n’t inevitably make him the most entertaining . There ’s nothing wrong with Nathan but if he was n’t a part of the series in season 2 , it would n’t matter all that much from an entertainment perspective .
Nathan ’s most worthful quality is that he can be the voice of reason to Tommy and even Rebecca , both of whom are quite refractory and unfaltering in their decisions . Because of this , Nathan has hardly any real effect inLandmanthus far . He ’s sort of a tame , typical attorney - character with potent value whose biggest problems are wrangle Tommy and avoiding staring at Ainsley . While this often wee for some peculiar scenes in the first half ofLandman , they do n’t do much for his character and his greater office in the serial publication besides being Tommy ’s sounding board .
9Cooper Norris
Jacob Lofland
Cooper seems like a good kid with a life-time of bad luck inLandman , some of which is the result of his poor conclusion - devising . While his family relationship with Ariana is n’t necessarily the sound looking at considering her husband – his coworker – die just week beforehand , Cooper ’s boastful offence is being entirely abstracted from his phratry ’s lives throughout season 1 . He had no idea that Tommy had been nobble and excruciate by the cartel because he was more focussed on his relationship with Ariana and starting his own fossil oil business concern than showing up for his pop when he needed it most .
Things like these make Cooper come off as quite unenlightened considering that his dad belike could have used his help , not just in the finale , but when thing at M - Tex commence go sideways at the end of the season . Cooper is distinctly not bollix like his sister , who he has almost no relationship with whatsoever , but that does n’t think of he had to allow home and stumble around discover his way just to examine to Tommy that he ’s not afraid to get his hands ill-gotten . Cooper makes stride to fend on his own groundwork , striking his first commonwealth flock and filling in for Arian ’s dead married man , but his length from Tommy , his category , and the master natural action ofLandmancan get some irritation .
8Rebecca Falcone
Kayla Wallace
Rebecca has her moments inLandmanwhere she can imposingly flex on her opposition and test that she is the impertinent , or at least the most clever and daunting , person in the room . She and Tommy started to build a rapport in the first half of the time of year , and even a intimation at a romantic interest that cursorily faded once Angela and Tommy got back together . Still , Rebecca brings a lot of aggression and intensity into situations that do n’t always take it , particularly considering that she and Tommy are play for the same squad .
It ’s frustrating at times when Rebecca ca n’t seem to happen a means to step back and take a hint , particularly towards the end of the season when Tommy has to give her a realism bank check on the oil job . It often seems Rebecca is hardwired to be frequently upset or disapproving regardless of the topic . While she ’s safe at what she does , Rebecca seems to be pick fights with everyone , even her M - Tex associates , and it gets old after a while . It reduce her to a caricature who is always raging and hardly ever reveals a human side .
7Cami Miller
Demi Moore
Cami seems like a great individual , female parent , and married woman , but she is n’t in the serial publication enough to make a real impact . She number around during the last few sequence of season 1 as Monty faces his wellness crisis . This is when she really starts to shine thanks to the fantabulous and grounded performance by Demi Moore . Cami trusts Tommy and has a calming front that , much like Tommy , is rooted in esteem and dignity . She loved Monty but could do nothing to stop over him from put down himself . She also proves in theLandmanseason 1 finale that she ’s willing to take grown risk for thing she believes in , just like her married man . Hopefully , there will be more of Cami in season 2 but there ’s not enough of her in time of year 1 to make a big impression .
6Dale Bradley
James Jordan
Dale is arguably the most of course funny fictional character inLandmanseason 1 but also quite flawed and predictable . He is loyal and smart in his field but not needs a go - getter , wee-wee him a solid supporting character who can offer up laughs for things such as get furious about not having Pop - Tarts for breakfast . It was n’t a majuscule looking for Dale that he select to watch over a play plot rather than go look for Tommy in theLandmanseason 1 close , especially considering that he knew about the rising tautness with the trust . Dale is n’t the sharpest creature in the shed but that ’s part of what form him a likable and uncle - like appreciate character inLandman , lightening the look and lifting Tommy ’s John Barleycorn .
5Ainsley Norris
Michelle Randolph
Ainsley has been jolly problematic throughoutLandmanseason 1 but that arguably makes her even more entertaining . Like her mother , Angela , she bestow a lot of excitation and spontaneity that makes it strong to take her eyes off her , which is in the end great for the serial publication . Ainsley is a valuable quality because of the round-eyed fact that you do n’t know what she ’s going to do next . In this way , she impart a lot to the show , even if her attitude is n’t always where it should be .
Ainsley level out over the course of the time of year and her budding kinship with the signal caller Ryder adds a fresh factor of intrigue to her character . It would be nice to see her make more of an sweat to evolve in her interests , which are currently limited to boys , parties , shopping , tanning , and working out , with a little Cupid’s itch of " community of interests service . " The missing link with Ainsley may be not make a normal sibling relationship with Cooper . Both of them should be past the teenage trope of hat each other and may call for each other more than they recognize or that they ’re unforced to acknowledge .
4Ariana Medina
Paulina Chavez
It ’s gruelling not to feel uncollectible for Ariana in Landman season 1 while also accept a lot of esteem for her as a widow woman and single ma . She can mostly handle her own but is incapacitated in certain orbit , as most multitude would be follow a tragical event such as of a sudden losing their spouse . Cooper swoops in to help oneself carry the groceries and figure out the bills , which connote that Ariana could n’t have cipher it out herself .
The whole Ariana and Cooper relationship is messy and a bit odd , but perhaps the point is that they ’re helping each other and do n’t merit to be judged . It will be interesting to see whether Ariana and Cooper will actually last since she really has n’t had any prison term to suspire after her married man ’s death . It ’s easy to settle down for her whether Cooper ’s in the picture or not .
3Angela Norris
Ali Larter
Angela is somehow the perfect counterpoise between a dream female child and a living nightmare , making her one of the most exciting characters inLandmanseason 1 . While she may be all over the place , this recipe works well in these types of Sheridan shows , as proven with Beth Dutton inYellowstone . Beth and Angela are certainly rationalize from the same textile and are naturally entertaining , even shocking at time with their bluntness and brass .
Angela means well and appreciates the finer thing , which attain her a bit unaccessible to some and a marvel to most . She and Tommy do n’t always see eye to center and their human beings often clash , which often makes for a funny juxtaposition . Angela will act like dinner is the most authoritative thing in the populace while Tommy has to handle with exploding rigs and cartel members . It ’s easy to be irritated by Angela for not understanding the burdens of Tommy ’s professing . Still , it ’s so much better for the series that she ’s a gimcrack and proud wildcard rather than a savorless yet supportive married woman .
2Monty Miller
Jon Hamm
Watching Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton talk business and wrangle an endless scroll of problems was one of the great joyousness of watchingLandmanseason 1 . While Monty had some issue , particularly medical ones that resulted in his death from pith failure , he know the oil business organization and was fearless to take big peril even after seemingly having it all and already coming out on top . As fans ofMad Menalready know , Hamm is just outstanding and plays the " businessman boss in an expensive suit " so well .
Monty is command , ruthless , and equally admirable and flawed . Hamm ’s screen presence makes him enthralling to watch and his absence seizure inLandmanseason 2 will be immensely felt . The series does a convincing Book of Job of making the audience feel that whenever Monty speak , you better listen . It would have been bang-up to see Monty seek to adjust inLandmanseason 2 to life sentence as a retire home homo , as Jerry Jones advise in his episode 9 cameo . unluckily , hearing wo n’t get the chance to see what Monty could have become . His destruction is a dusty reminder of the stresses of his and Tommy ’s industry , exemplifying the line , " Men break , oil companies do n’t . "
1Tommy Norris
Billy Bob Thronton
There is noLandmanwithout Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris . Tommy is effortlessly cool , tranquil , and collected , often irrationally so , as he figure out how to handle the dozens of novel problem he faces on a casual fundament . Tommy ’s also quite gay and heroic , using his expertise in the oil colour line of work as his principal arm and employing the leverage of America ’s vested interests and value possessions to his advantage . The byplay surely guide a toll on Tommy but he has enough wiseness and strategy to come out on top , even if he has to get bailed out by a richly - rank cartel member .
The best part about Tommy is his exceptional dialogue , which is often ironical , relatable , and to the stop . Sheridan has write him so well that he has quickly become one of the best characters in any of his film or television series . It ’s easy to root for a guy who takes no bull’s eye , shoots straight from the pelvic girdle , and is an absolute professional in his field of battle . Even better , he does it all in a cowpuncher chapeau , making him the perfect human for the job . All this cause Tommy the mystify heart at the gist ofLandmanand easily the good theatrical role in the serial publication .
