Two characters from altogether unlike backgrounds turning from reluctant allies to lovers is hardly a novel trope , butArcanehas always excelled in its portrait of love and intimacy , andVi and Caitlyn ’s relationshipis no exception .
This made their gradual falling out especially grievous , andthe writers did a rattling job of make up me worry that Caitlyn and Vi would never fully resolve their problemsbefore the end . After Vi and Caitlyn teamed up again inArcaneseason 2 , Act II , I was eagerly anticipating what it would mean for their kinship . Of course , in distinctive Arcane way , the first episode of Act III instead succeed Ekko and Heimerdinger ’s feat in an alternate timeline . This was certainly a prominent gamble , especially sincemost of us had no theme if season 2 was going to have enough time to wrap everything upin a solid manner . However , I think add just a little more sentence for us to previse Vi and Caitlyn ’s next reunion made a big difference .

Having them act together again but still keeping each other at a distance kept me reckon whether they would end up together . Their conversation in the cell was already beautiful , but even I was taken completely by surprise by just how passionate the view got . I like that they in short brought up Caitlyn ’s time with Maddie Nolen ( I was marvel if it would matter ) only for Vi to not care . I have to give major props to the creative squad for this implausibly satisfying payoffafter get Vi and Caitlyn go back and away for a season and a half .
Caitlyn’s Other Relationship Turns Sour

Speaking of Maddie , I do n’t think I ’ve ever seen a character demise that was so unexpectedly hearty . Perhaps that sound a fleck harsh , but to be vindicated , I did like Maddie as a character and guard her . certainly , she was a bit eager to go along with Ambessa Medarda ’s plans , but so were many other Enforcers , and that could be attribute to her being young and naive . Then she start look Caitlyn while Vi was gone , something I did not like at all , but I could at least appreciate that her scenes with Caitlyn were written , animated , and performed beautifully .
Arcane season 2 fetch several storylines to an end , but not without leaving lallygag secret plan threads that could be continued in forthcoming spin - offs .
I actually felt tough for Maddie when Vi and Caitlyn capture back together , and I figured there would be an inevitable inapt breakup . Then Maddie betrayed Caitlyn , disclose her dedication to Ambessa , and endeavor to shoot Caitlyn in the header . After a dependable routine of hearable surprisal on my part , Maddie ’s treason started to make more good sense in hindsight , though I still have enquiry about when and why she joined Ambessa . Either mode , Maddie getting killed by her own slug after the ultimate act of treachery was a meet final stage to her reference , even if I never control it come .

Vi & Cait Get The Happy Ending They Deserve
As happy as an ending can be in Arcane
Arcane ’s series finale is definitely semisweet and tragical , but considering how thing normally go in this show , Vi and Caitlyn got the happiest end they could have anticipate . Like other devotee , I do have some problems with the finale , mostly in the last few min . I think the installment could have used a petty more time for quality moments , resolving storylines , and showing how everyone reacted to the result . This has been the self-aggrandising critique of time of year 2 overall , but even with this issue , I still love the end , and Vi and Caitlyn are a big part of it .
However , rather of give into desperation again , Vi could smile and move on from her heartbreak , standing by who she loves now .
